WALKER BACKS BOSINGWA’S CHELSEA

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has said that he wants Chelsea to win the Champions League final this season. Chelsea qualified for the Champions League final after beating favourites Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate. The 1-0 win from the first leg was followed by a 2-2 draw in the second leg. Fernando Torres and Ramires scored the vital goals in the second leg to send Chelsea into their second Champions League final at the Allianz arena. This will be facing Bayern Munich, who will be playing on their home ground, after the Germans eliminated Real Madrid from the competition on penalties.

Kyle Walker reckons that it would be tough to support Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League because of the fact that Chelsea are an English team. If Chelsea win the Champions League, then it could potentially mean Kyle Walker missing out on the prospect of playing Champions League football next season. If Chelsea win the Champions League, then the fourth placed team in England will have to be content with the Europa league football. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has called this rule absurd. Tottenham are currently in the fourth position right now, and Chelsea are almost out of the running.

“Ordinarily you would get behind an English team playing in the final but I won’t deny the Bayern Munich scarf might be coming out that night. The players are conscious of what is at stake and if we finish fourth and Chelsea win the Champions League they will qualify instead of us. That would be an extremely difficult situation to stomach. But hopefully it won’t come to that and we will pip Arsenal to third place because I can’t say I’m entirely comfortable supporting a German club over an English one,” Kyle Walker said about the Champions League final.
